Shuma Talukdar is a lawyer equipped with experience in various sectors, such as aviation, FMCG, information technology, media and entertainment, NGO, oil and gas, real estate, and shipping. She is also a certified Corporate Governance Professional. She holds the degrees of BA Honours (Political Science), LL.B., LL.M. (Business Law), Master's in Public Administration, and Diploma in International Environmental Law and Governance. In addition to the above-mentioned degrees, she holds certificates in “Managing Intellectual Property in Universities” from IIT, Madras, and Patent Cooperation Treaty from World Intellectual Property Academy, Geneva.
She is also a Fellow of Women Entrepreneurship Program 2018, IIM-Bangalore. She has served Bodhi Global Services Pvt Ltd, Pune and India Law Offices, New Delhi as an Associate. She is a member of IUCN - World Commission on Environmental law and holds professional membership of the Supreme Court of India, the Bar Council of India, and the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law, Government of India. She co-founded a law firm, Droit India Legal Services in Noida, and ran it as a Managing Partner from 2013 to 2015.
She is also a social entrepreneur. She established an NGO, Society for Social Regeneration & Equity (SSRE) in 2013 under the auspices of which she worked in the fields of skill development, micro finance, livelihood, tobacco control, health and hygiene, women empowerment, gender equality, environment, and legal rights. Under the NGO she also run projects with NABARD on micro-financing and with UP Police on gender sensitization.
She has received training in the production and primary processing of medicinal and aromatic plants from the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) and Central Institute of Medicinal & Aromatic Plants (CIMAP) and is a qualified yoga therapist. She was also one of the rapporteurs for the Global Youth Summit, 2021 of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, Gland, Switzerland.
